THe ACHOW website

Some of you may have noticed that the ACHOW website no long exists. The fact of the matter is that I started the ACHOW website because Joe Bitsky, and the other previous board members, refused to establish a website for our HOA and I felt that we needed one. The ACHOW website was needed to remove the Bitsky's sole control of information and place it back into the hands of homeowners.
Now that we have new board members and an official ACHOA website (www.theachoa.com) has been established, the ACHOW website is no longer needed. The ACHOW site served its purpose. It provided homeowners, residents, and any one else for that matter, an easy way to access our community/HOA information.
Although we are still subject to the Bitsky propaganda, homeowners no longer have to cater to Bitsky's ego to get the information that we are entitled to. We now have approachable board members that don't use intimidation tactics, we have a professional property/community manager to handle most of the HOA business, and we have board meetings that don't involve yelling, screaming, threats, or the police.
I want to thank all of you who visited our website and supported us in freeing our community.

2014 Update

Hey, folks... sorry for the previous botched (now deleted) post and for the lack of updates to this blog. It's been a really busy couple of years here in our little community.

We've gotten some new neighbors, some have left, and some have even returned; The City of NLV installed a bus stop, which should help reduce damage to our common property in that area; The regional park has opened; The neighboring community on La Madre is being completed; the HOA has a positive balance in the bank... it looks like the recession is finally behind us and the future looks bright.
I am hoping that we can start having community events like BBQs, group walks on the Upper Las Vegas Wash Trail, community yard sales, etc.

Let's get the ACHOW Buzzing!

Community Updates - 04/24/12

Here are a few updates regarding our community.  Also, please feel free to comment on this blog, visit our website (http://www.theachow.com/), and/or visit our Facebook page.  Let us know how we are doing!

Updates:

1)  Our community-wide yard/garage sale has been moved up to the weekend of May 18, 19, and 20th.  This was mostly done to avoid the heat! North Las Vegas does require a permit, which is free.

2)  We will be making a few changes to the ACHOW website. Google has intergrated YouTube with it's other services so we will have a link to the ACHOW YouTube channel and we will be side-lining the Ustream video service. Using YouTube will reduce the time and effort needed to publish videos accross the internet. Also, the ACHOW YouTube channel will have videos of community events and HOA audio recordings. Currently, we only have three audio recordings posted. (We will add links to this blog within the next week)

3) Today (4/24/12) was the ACHOA annual homeowners meeting. Because it was held at noon, I don't know of anyone who was able to attend. Hopefully, we will get something positive from the ACHOA.

4) Speaking of the ACHOA: The Common-Interest Communities & Condominium Hotels (CICCH) commission will be hearing the results of the complaints filed against the ACHOA and it's board members on August 14 through the August 16. We will update this blog when the agenda is poblished, which is usually a few days prior to the meeting/hearing. The hearing is public, so check either the NRED's website or the ACHOW Facebook page for the address if you wish to attend.

Hopefully, we will have a mild Summer and prosperous year!

PS: If you wish to read a more opinionated blog regarding the ACHOA and it's BOD, just visit 'The Truth about the ACHOA' (http://achoatruth.blogspot.com/).

Changes to the ACHOW wbesite

in an effort to streamline services, we will be sidelining the Ustream video account and replace it with a Youtube channel. Now that Google consolidated Youtube and Google+, the process to publish and share videos is much easier. We started using Ustream because it is free and allows anyone to watch live/recorded video. Now that Google+ Hangout streams directly to YouTube, linking the website, video and online chat is all-in-one. So check back soon and return often!

ACHOA Elections cancelled... AGAIN.

By now, we all should have received the letter from the ACHOA announcing that the Board of Director's election has been cancelled.  This is two years in a row that the elections have been cancelled.  A complaint has been filed with the NRED and in currently being investigated.

2011 ACHOA Elections

Check your mailboxes for the latest letter from the ACHOA announcing board of directors election in October.  Even though NRS requires 30 days for nominations, the current board is giving us less than 22, so  I encourage every homeowner to nominate themselves for the single, open seat immediately!  We desparately need new people to be involved with our HOA, the current BOD has been in place for over 8 years and it's time for a change.
Also, I'm puting the final touches on the community newsletter and we be getting it out as soon as possible.

Ride to Work Day - Monday, June 20

Hey, everybody... Monday, June 20, is Ride to Work Day. It's makes for a great excuse to dust off the bike or scooter and take it to work.  Of course, here on Las Vegas, it's always riding weather, but people like me get complacent and routinely take the car.  So... here's to two-wheeled locomotion!  It saves gas and eases traffic congestion.
Ride safe and keep the rubber side down!
